Charge: To develop customer-focused,
scientifically validated program monitors for the documentation of quality
performance and outcome measures in laboratories, health care delivery
systems, and accreditation programs; and to educate pathologists and the
greater health care community about laboratory quality and outcome measures.
Number of face-to-face meetings: 4
Length of each meeting: 1.5 days for 3 meetings, December meeting is 1
day
Location of meetings: 2 meetings in Chicago, 2 meetings

The QPC focuses on developing scientific studies
of interest, to help laboratories benchmark quality against one another.
The Q-PROBES and Q-TRACKS studies are designed by committee members and
then subjected to market research. Successful prospects are developed more
completely and sold to subscribers who commit to measure the quality of
some aspect of their laboratory operation. Aggregate data are summarized
by the study authors and presented back to subscribers in the form of a
data analysis and critique. The study authors usually prepare a publication
for peer review (typically in Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine)
and short articles for CAP TODAY.
- The committee needs broad expertise in anatomic
pathology and various clinical pathology disciplines, and in current
laboratory issues related to quality.
- Contribute to a culture of patient safety and laboratory
quality assurance
