Reports to: Committee of the Board of Governors

Charge: To advise on, oversee, and guide the expansion of, the STS Division as a commercially-oriented professional services group.  STS is also an integral component of CAP’s informatics capability.  The SVC acts as a ‘venture board’, providing advice and serving as a thought partner to Division and CAP leadership and is a source for governance on behalf of the Board.

Time Commitment Time Commitment

Number of face-to-face meetings: 4 per year
Length of each meeting: 1 day
Typical meeting days of the week: Monday or Friday

Location of meetings: At STS Division offices in Deerfield, Illinois

Number of conference calls: infrequent, as needed

Hours of committee work required outside of meetings:
Member: 20 + hours
Chair: 40 + hours

Additional travel or time commitments: Committee member attendance at the CAP annual meeting is encouraged.

Activities of Committee

  • Guide STS and CAP leadership in the development of the STS Professional Services organization by providing counsel in the areas of strategic, financial, and operations management
  • Through its chairperson, report to the CAP Board of Governors on the efficacy of, and efficiency with which, CAP seed funding is being managed
  • Advise the CAP CEO in evaluating the performance of the STS VP
  • Serve as an advisor, sounding board and thought partner to the STS Division leadership in achieving profitable growth
  • Be an advocate for professional services consulting within CAP

  • Entrepreneurial or practice leadership experience
  • Interest in building a healthcare professional services / consulting organization
  • Health information / informatics experience
  • Consulting background
  • Ability to serve as a resource for knowledge and experience

Committee Membership Composition:

  • An elected chairperson from among the SVC members
  • The CEO of CAP
  • The CFO of CAP
  • 4 or more CAP Fellows
  • 2 outside members with expertise in healthcare and/or consulting services organizations
