In addition to the general Laboratory Accreditation Program, the CAP brings expertise in the following focused areas:
The first of its kind, the CAP’s biorepository accreditation program is a three-year, peer-based accreditation program developed to drive the adoption of standards through consistent application of best practices and evidence-based standards. The CAP’s new program will further strengthen the quality of patient care and ensure consistent, verifiable quality of biospecimens and biorepositories lacking in the current environment.

Reproductive Laboratory Accreditation (RLAP) (PDF, 867 KB)
In collaboration with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the CAP has developed an accreditation program specifically designed for the unique needs of reproductive laboratories. The program has been approved by CMS for the accreditation of those andrology tests regulated by CLIA 88.
Forensic Drug Testing (FDT) Accreditation (PDF, 311 KB)
This program is available for laboratories performing confirmatory drug testing on urine, oral fluid, and hair for non-medical purposes (i.e., workplace drug testing). The program also accepts laboratories that perform urine screen-only testing by non-waived methods. The confirmation testing must be performed by a CAP FDT accredited or SAMSHA certified laboratory.
