This Competency Assessment Program is a tool to help laboratory directors evaluate the competency of testing personnel and should be used in conjunction with other evaluation procedures (e.g., direct observation of routine patient test performance, monitoring the recording and reporting of results). Each laboratory is responsible for establishing its own competency standards, and completion of this program alone does not necessarily indicate competence. The CAP does not endorse, guarantee or warrant, and expressly disclaims, any and all liability for the job performance of testing personnel participating in the program.

Getting Started

Before you can access program activities, you need to be associated with a laboratory.
