2013 CAP Policy Meeting

Feedback from Past CAP Policy Meeting Attendees

Here’s just an example of what some past attendees have to say about the CAP Policy Meeting:

This year’s CAP Policy meeting in Washington showed why this continues to rank as one of the “must attend” events for our profession. Hearing first hand from CAP leaders, legislators and policy makers, about the decisions, laws and regulations that will affect us is an opportunity that every pathologist should seize. Add to that the occasion to visit with our own legislators and their staff on Capitol Hill to let them know how their actions impact on our ability to practice medicine. This meeting is one of the real benefits of being a member of the College. - Thomas J. Cooper, MD, FCAP

Attending the CAP Policy meeting was very rewarding for me professionally. Being able to hear first-hand from the nation’s foremost policy authorities allowed me to identify policy changes that will affect my practice. All pathologists, regardless of practice setting, would benefit by attending this informative program. Given the impact that payment policy has on the work that I do every day, I plan to attend the CAP Policy Meeting annually to stay ahead of curve and receive up-to-date changes occurring now in the health care system. – 2012 Policy Meeting Attendee

As Chair of the CAP’s economic affairs committee, I appreciate the opportunity to update members on challenges facing our practices and discuss how we may potentially benefit from new payment models. The size of the meeting allows for a lot of discussion between meeting participants, CAP leaders, and National health policy experts. The information gained at the meeting allows me to further adapt to changes in the health care system.- Jonathan L. Myles, MD, FCAP
Chair, Economic Affairs Committee

Our Annual CAP Policy Meeting is the only national meeting that brings together pathology leaders from all sectors to discuss policy and regulatory issues that impact our profession. Throughout the pathology and laboratory medicine community, this meeting is a ‘must attend’ event for anyone interested in learning about emerging policy trends in health care from nationally recognized experts and finding out about new approaches to address current health care challenges. Attendees can also join us for the CAP Annual Hill Day which brings together more than 200 pathologists who will descend on the Capitol to educate lawmakers and seek their support for important legislation. Especially in these difficult political and economic times, your advocacy on behalf of the profession is sorely needed.
