  Making cap.org Better for You

title

The CAP continues its work to upgrade our systems to offer you a leading-edge web experience that is simple, fast, convenient, and secure. Much of our work during 2013 was internal infrastructure and will provide a foundation for the new functionality we are now working on to present in 2014.

We apologize for any service disruptions and inconveniences that you may experience using cap.org. We have implemented:

  • Streamlined sign-on and stronger security: We’ve enhanced security to help you access multiple areas on cap.org without the need to reenter your username and password. We also removed the “Remember Me” functionality for more robust security.
  • Online purchasing: We’ve added the ability to pay membership dues and purchase CAP publications online.
  • Apple device compatibility: We’ve made our inspection training courses accessible on Macs for those needing to update their inspection training using an Apple device.

Challenges and solutions:

  • Saved links, for example, shortcuts and favorites, to cap.org may contain an outdated address. Please delete the saved links prior to rekeying the CAP web address cap.org and resaving as a favorite.
  • If you receive an error message when trying to access cap.org, for example, 404 error message, Oracle Access Manager Error, clear your web browser's cache (temporary internet files and/or cookies and history) to view the most current cap.org home page. Please consult your IT department for assistance or review options based on your particular web browser. For Internet Explorer (IE):
    • Be sure to close all IE windows before performing the steps below
    • On a Windows XP machine, Go to “Start” > “Settings” > “Control Panel” > “Internet Options̵ (then follow steps below, being sure to include history)
      • For IE version 7: “General”->“Browsing history”->“Delete”
          1. Select Delete Files; Delete Cookies; Delete History; Delete       Forms
      • For IE versions 8 and above: “General”->“Browsing history”->“Delete...”
          1. Preserve Favorites website data—this should NOT be checked
          2. Temporary Internet files; Cookies; Form data; Active X       Filtering; History; and Tracking Protection data should be       checked, and select "Delete."
    • On a Windows 7 machine, Go to “Start” > “Control Panel” (right-hand of start menu) > “Internet Options” (then follow steps below, being sure to include history)
      • For IE versions 8 and above: “General”->“Browsing history”->“Delete...”
          1. Preserve Favorites website data—this should NOT be checked
          2. Temporary Internet files; Cookies; Form data; Active X       Filtering; History; and Tracking Protection data should be       checked, and select “Delete.”

Suggestions and how can we help?

  • We recommend not creating a new web account as this creates duplicates and may further complicate your access.
  • Please review the System Requirements to better understand the current cap.org environment.
  • We’d appreciate hearing your ideas and suggestions on how to make cap.org even better.
