The Dayle Aller Fund: for the
  Prevention of Breast Cancer

Updated February 4, 2013

aller After a two-year battle with breast cancer, Dayle, wife of Ray Aller, MD, FCAP, passed away on May 8, 2000. Remembered for her determination, strong will, and constant belief in reaching out selflessly to help others, she dedicated her personal life to family, her professional life to caring for critically ill infants and children, and her spiritual life to growing ever stronger in her faith.

Dayle died of a preventable disease. Over a 25-year period, surgeons and internists discouraged the performance of prophylactic mastectomies - even though Dayle’s grand-mother had died from metastatic breast cancer, and her mother had bilateral carcinomas, five years apart.

Preventive steps will save many high-risk women from the devastating effects of breast cancer. Recent research has shown that both medical and surgical interventions prevent cancer from occurring. Detecting cancer early is NOT our objective - preventing it altogether IS. This fund will educate physicians to offer high-risk women the option of preventive medical and surgical therapies.

Always generous without ever expecting appreciation, Dayle -- a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, nurse, and friend -- brought out the best in others. This fund will continue to serve the world through the legacy of her unselfish love.

Please contribute today and ensure a healthy future for women in your life.

Support and gifts from the following friends and colleagues made this fund a reality.
