Keeping pathologists and pathologists-in-training educated in key technologies
In pathology, “informatics” refers to the collection and analysis of information using computer technology. As new technology evolves at a faster pace, informatics has emerged as a critically important area for professional growth among pathologists.
The Foundation offers several programs aimed at keeping professionals up to speed on the changing world of informatics – some of which cover the costs of travel to special events and conferences. Conference travel awards are provided for residents to attend the Lab InfoTech Summit Conference, the Cerner Health Conference, Futurescape Conferences and the Advanced Practice, Instruction and Innovation through Informatics conference (APIII). Institutional grants are given to help pathology residents and pathologists in developing an understanding of the use of telepathology. A scholarship is given to help residents learn about new pathology software developments and information technology.
