January 2007
PAP/NGC Programs Review

To enroll in the 2007 Pap proficiency testing program, laboratories must select their slideset module and choice of educational shipments by the product code listed on the 2007 gynecologic cytology proficiency testing order form. Laboratories can choose from one of 24 proficiency test sessions and an educational slideset series 1 or 2.

For example, an order for PAPKPT1 results in one SurePath Pap proficiency testing examination and two SurePath Educational Series 1 slidesets. One educational slideset ships in January (A mailing), and one educational slideset ships in July (B mailing). An order for PAPKPT2 results in one Pap proficiency testing examination and two SurePath Educational Series 2 slidesets that ship in April (A mailing) and October (B mailing).

Orders should be placed early to receive preferred testing date, both education slidesets and access to online cases. Each individual can earn 12 CME/CE annually if all accompanying education courses are completed.

If ordering after January, your laboratory should enroll in Education Series 2. Late Pap PT orders received after June will be prorated for both Education Series and receive only the B mailing educational slideset worth up to six CME/CE credits. To download the complete 2007 Pap proficiency testing program general information booklet, please visit the “About Pap PT” page on the CAP Web site at www.cap.org under the Accreditation and Laboratory Improvement tab.
