May 2008
PAP/NGC Programs Review

The CAP Cytopathology Committee will introduce in the fall a comprehensive Atlas on Gynecologic Cytology. The atlas will extensively illustrate common and uncommon findings in cervical preparations. Most of the images are derived from liquid-based cytology specimens and will highlight spectrums of changes and look-alike findings that make the interpretation of these samples so challenging. In addition, other chapters will examine such topics as the biology of HPV, the role of HPV vaccines, recent ASCCP guidelines for the followup of abnormal Paps, management issues in the cytology laboratory, and anticipated new technology.
