Diagnostic Issues in Thrombophilia Conference synopsis

This conference addressed four basic questions regarding testing for genetic risk factors for thrombophilia:
What tests should be done?
When should testing be implemented?
Who should be tested?
How should testing be done?

All manuscripts from the conference were submitted to the Archives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and subjected to the journal’s peer review process. They will be published in an upcoming issue of the journal. The purpose of publishing the synopsis is to present the conclusions and recommendations that were discussed and approved at the consensus conference. It will serve as a quick reference for the clinician and laboratorian dealing with patients who suffer from thrombophilia.
