TODAY
The Health Care Financing Administration has clarified that two pathology
services are physician services payable under the Medicare physician fee
schedule.
CPT 88291 (cytogenetics and molecular cytogenetics, interpretation and
report) and 88141 (physician interpretation of a Pap test) are payable
for patient services in all settings--hospital and nonhospital patients--retroactive
to Jan. 1, 1999. HCFA, in earlier notices, had declared 88291 as not payable
on the physician fee schedule and failed to include 88141 as a payable
on the schedule. |
