  How to Use the Competency
  Assessment Program to Satisfy
  CAP Laboratory Accreditation
  Program and CLIA Requirements

Posted March 9, 2010

Competency Assessment Program from the CAP was designed as a tool to help labs meet CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program and CLIA requirements for competency. To fully meet these requirements, customization of the program is necessary.

Use the CourseBuilder and ChecklistBuilder tools to assist in documenting all aspects of competency assessment, whether creating new courses and checklists from scratch or modifying CAP-provided courses and checklists to fit your laboratory’s standard operating procedures (SOPs).

This chart shows how the Competency Assessment Program tools can help you satisfy the elements of competency included in the Laboratory General Checklist requirement GEN.55500 and the CLIA requirements.
