Sample Exchange Registry Service Expands to All DisciplinesPosted April 17, 2012

The College of American Pathologists’ complimentary Sample Exchange Registry for Alternative Assessment now includes all clinical laboratory disciplines. This Internet-based service connects laboratories performing testing for which no formal proficiency testing is available.

“PathGroup’s patients have benefited because the CAP’s Sample Exchange Program helps us ensure that we are providing the accurate results needed for proper medical decision making. We have seen excellent correlation of results in all of the exchanges. The program will continue to benefit our patients by matching PathGroup with other labs that are doing advanced molecular diagnostics.”
– James Prescott, PhD, HCLD(ABB), Molecular Diagnostics Director,
PathGroup Labs, Nashville, Tennessee

Laboratories can participate in the registry service at any time. When at least three laboratories testing the same analyte are identified, the CAP will facilitate the sample exchange. Data will be anonymized and each individual laboratory will receive its own results along with an anonymous summary report for all participants.

See our Sample Exchange Registry Web page for more information.
