Downloading a free version of the Sun Java Virtual Machine
To use the virtual slide's microscopy display, you must have Sun Java Virtual Machine (JVM) software on your computer. If you cannot see the virtual slide above, you may not have Sun JVM software installed. To download and install the FREE Sun JVM, go to http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp. If you do not have administrative rights to install software on your computer, please contact your technical support team for its assistance. Moving the Virtual Slide (click and drag)
To move the virtual slide place the mouse cursor over the image, hold down the left mouse button, and drag the virtual slide to a new location. This operation is called a click and drag. When the mouse button is released, the unpainted portion of the window is drawn. Return to slide.

Centering an Area of the Virtual Slide (left mouse click)
To center an area of the virtual slide place the mouse cursor over the image and click the left mouse button. The area of the virtual slide under the mouse cursor is relocated to the center of the image. Return to slide.

Changing the Objective (center an area | right mouse click | select Objective)
Just like a microscope, in order to view a certain area on the slide it must be centered in the field of view before changing to a higher magnification objective. To change the objective, first center an area within a green boundary region of the virtual slide as described above. Then place the mouse cursor over the image, click the right mouse button, and select the desired objective. The green boundary designates the area of the virtual slide available for viewing under the higher magnification objectives available. Return to slide.

Tape Measure Mode (right mouse click | select Tape Measure Mode | click and drag)
Tape Measure Mode allows for linear measurements using the mouse cursor. To enter Tape Measure Mode place the mouse cursor over the image, click the right mouse button, and select Tape Measure Mode. The mouse cursor changes into a tape measure. To make a measurement perform a click and drag with the left mouse button. When the mouse button is released, the length of the measurement in microns is displayed. To exit Tape Measure Mode place the mouse cursor over the image, click the right mouse button, and unselect Tape Measure Mode. Return to slide.

Area Measurement Mode (right mouse click | select Area Measurement Mode | left mouse clicks)
Area Measure Mode allows for polygon based area measurements using the mouse cursor. To enter Area Measure mode place the mouse cursor over the image, click the right mouse button, and select Area Measure Mode. The mouse cursor changes into a cross hair with a letter A. To make a measurement click the left mouse button as needed to define the corners of the polygon. Click the right mouse button to close the area. When the area is closed the area measurement in square microns is displayed. To exit Area Measurement Mode place the mouse cursor over the image, click the right mouse button, and unselect Area Measurement Mode. Return to slide.
