  Avoiding PT Referral Sanctions

Dear Valued CAP Customer:

PT referral can occur unknowingly in the most practical laboratory applications. “Treat a PT sample like a patient sample” is what labs hear and tend to do. However, sending PT samples to another laboratory for testing normally referred for patients can lead to sanctions against the referring laboratory and the medical director.
