Just prior to CAP TODAY press time, your "LAP News" editor learned this is his final issue after serving 11 years (1990-2001). Desiree Carlson, MD, a member of the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation, will take over as the commission's scribe beginning next year. Watch for my successor's work in the February 2002 issue.
I am deeply grateful to the CAP for having so enriched my professional, academic, and personal life. Longtime membership in the CAP official family has brought equally long-lasting relationships with members and staff. Six years on the Board of Governors (1985-1991) forged particularly strong bonds among us all.
I mention this to encourage younger colleagues to pursue part of their career goals within the CAP. Find a niche; make your talents known.
Best wishes to my colleagues and the staff who continue the work and preserve the professional image of this incredible organization.
