Denver Physician Appointed Secretary-Treasurer of College of American Pathologists

National pathologists’ association appoints Ronald B. Lepoff, MD, FCAP

Northfield, IL.—Ronald B. Lepoff, MD, FCAP, of Denver was sworn in as a secretary-treasurer of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) at a ceremony held at CAP ‘05 – the annual meeting of the College of American Pathologists – in Chicago on Sept. 14, 2005.

"It is a privilege to be a part of the competent and thoughtful leadership of an institution like the College," said Dr. Lepoff. "I look forward to continuing to work with the College in support of its fundamental mission to advance excellence on behalf of patients and pathologists."

Throughout his career, Dr. Lepoff has been actively involved in the CAP. He currently holds the position of chair of the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation. In addition, he is a member of the Council on Scientific Affairs and the Council on Government and Professional Affairs. He was twice elected to the Board of Governors and has served as former State Commissioner for Colorado and chair of the Laboratory Fiscal Management Committee.

Dr. Lepoff serves currently as head of the Section of Clinical Pathology in the Department of Pathology of the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, where he is vice-chair for Clinical Pathology and professor of Pathology and Medicine. Dr. Lepoff is a six-time recipient of its Medical Student Excellence in Teaching Award. He also serves as medical director of clinical laboratories at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver.

Coupled with his hospital duties, Dr. Lepoff was a founding board member of the Colorado Physician Health Program. He also holds membership in the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, the American Medical Association and Denver Medical Society, among others.

Dr. Lepoff received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, N.Y. He interned in pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and completed his residency in both anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
