This award was established in 1995 as the Major General Joe M. Blumberg Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Laboratory Accreditation Program in memory of General Joe Blumberg. The name of this award was changed in 2006 to the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program Service Award Established in Honor of Major General Joseph M. Blumberg.
This award is presented annually to any individual College member or staff member who has contributed exceptional and outstanding service to the College of American Pathologists Laboratory Accreditation Program.
