CAP@Your Service - April 2006
Would you like to become more comfortable speaking before a group? Have you ever received a phone call from a reporter in your area and were uncertain about what to do next? Are you interested in raising the visibility of pathology in your community? If so, you may be interested in learning more about the 2006 CAP Spokespersons Training Program.
The CAP Spokespersons Training Program is a two-and-a-half day intensive communications training seminar that will be held on Saturday, December 2 through Monday, December 4, 2006 at the Omni Hotel in Chicago. Both Fellow and Junior members are welcome to attend.
The program offers hands-on training and exercises, some taught by current members of the CAP Spokespersons Network, to help pathologists feel more comfortable speaking before groups, and to develop the skills necessary to work with television, radio, and print media. In addition, participants will have the exciting opportunity to record a radio interview that will be broadcast in their local market and be interviewed on-camera as part of an individualized video news release that will be sent to TV stations in their area.
Upon graduation from the Spokespersons Training Program, participants will have the skills and knowledge to effectively communicate messages to any audience — in the lab, hospital, community, or with the media — in front of a group or one-on-one. In addition, participants will sign an agreement committing to serve as an active member of the CAP Spokespersons Network for at least three years.
Currently, the CAP Spokespersons Network includes more than 170 pathologists who are committed to raising the visibility of their profession through the media and in their communities.
