CAP@Your Service – Summer 2007

A lot of progress has been made in the past few months on several key issues important to CAP Junior Members. The Residents Forum Executive Committee will provide detailed information at the September 29 meeting. As a preview, here’s a glimpse at some of the projects currently in-the-works.

Standardized Fellowship Application

The Residents Forum Executive Committee introduced the new Standardized Pathology Fellowship Application during the Association of Pathology Chairs-Program Directors (APC-PRODS) meeting in July 2007. Of the program directors and others present at the meeting, there were several who proposed immediate adoption of the application by PRODS. The application has been posted on the residents.cap.org site with introductory background information.

CAP Residents Web Page

Minor modifications have been made to this site over the last few months. These changes have included:

• Changing the name of the page from “Resident Resources” to “CAP for Residents”
• Rotating new photos
• Adding the audio presentation file from CAP President Dr. Sodeman’s most recent Residents Forum Presentation
• Adding the new insider’s guide—“8 Things to Look for When Looking for a Pathology Residency Training Program” (PDF 27 K)

Collaboration Space

In March, the Residents Forum launched an online collaboration space pilot project for delegates of the Residents Forum and Junior Members serving on CAP committees. The pilot program will soon be expanded to all Junior Members via a new CAP Residents Online Community. More details will be shared at the Fall Residents Forum meeting in September.
