Dear Pathology Resident or Fellow:
I would like to invite you to help shape the future of pathology. The College of American Pathologists (CAP) is seeking pathology residents to volunteer to serve on available CAP committees for 2007. This is a great opportunity for you to network with leading pathologists from around the country and to learn more about a specific topic area of our profession. There are a variety of committees from which to choose, and this is a great chance to learn more about the operations of the CAP as well.
According to CAP policy, Junior Member committee appointments will be for one year, January 1 through December 31, and may not exceed two years. Most committees meet two to three times a year, often on weekends, so there would be relatively little disruption of your schedule. The College reimburses for committee travel and housing expenses, so there is little out-of-pocket cost to you. In addition to committee responsibilities, Junior Members serving on committees are asked to provide reports on current committee activities to the CAP Residents Forum.
In order to be considered for committee appointment, you must be a CAP Junior Member. Membership is free. Please complete a CAP membership application if you are not already a member.
Information regarding available committees and application directions are located on www.cap.org. Click on "Resident Resources" on the CAP Home Page, then select "Apply for Junior Member Position on CAP Committee."
How to apply:
- Submit a completed CAP Committee application.
- Submit a current curriculum vitae.
- Submit a letter of recommendation from your program director or pathology department chair. Please send all application (electronic) documents together in one e-mail to Jan Glas at firstname.lastname@example.org. Application materials must be received no later than March 27, 2006.
The College's respective committee chairs and staff will review all committee nominations. All qualified Junior Members will be considered; however, only one can be placed on each committee. Applicants will receive notification in October stating whether or not they have been placed on a committee.
Please let us know of any suggestions you have for ways the College can better serve you. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Glas at 800-323-4040 ext. 7499 or via e-mail at email@example.com.
