  The Synoptic Report Definition

Posted May 8, 2012

Synoptic pathology reporting is fast becoming a standard in the cancer community. The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) and CAP Accreditation Program evaluate how your laboratory meets this recommendation during their accreditation processes.

The structure for accomplishing this is prebuilt into the eCC, but for non-eCC users it can be difficult to produce due to challenges in understanding the synoptic report model. To help aid pathologists in this important area, the CAP Cancer Committee has updated its definition of the synoptic report; this can be found on the CAP website.
