CMS Extends PQRS Administrative Claims-Based Reporting Deadline
to Oct. 18

October 11, 2013—The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it has extended the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) administrative claims-based reporting deadline three days. The revised deadline is now Oct. 18.

According to CMS, several hundred large group practices are in danger of having all Medicare payments cut by 1 percent in 2015, unless they act now to sign up for GROUP participation in PQRS, CMS’ quality reporting program that uses a combination of incentive payments and payment adjustments to promote reporting of quality information by eligible professionals.

But there is still time to act. The PQRS registration deadline closes on Friday, Oct. 18. For more information about how to avoid the penalty, go here.
