  CAP Foundation Futurescape Conference Award

Futurescape of Pathology Conference Series

Updated April 29, 2010

Deadline

February 1, 2009

Conference Travel Grant Opportunity—Applications Accepted February 1, 2009

The practice of pathology is going to change. Will the microscope disappear as our primary diagnostic tool? Will pathology merge with radiology? How will companies like GE, IBM and Siemens influence our practice? On which new technologies are the venture capitalists betting? What are pathologists and leaders in the specialty doing to help shape a new technological direction or prepare for it?

The Futurescape Conference will discuss this important period of massive transformation. Pathologists, laboratory medicine professionals, industry and business professionals related to the specialty will come together to explore pathology’s future and consider pathology’s methods of diagnoses in a digital age. The conference is designed for forward–thinking decision makers who wish to take a critical look at technology in the profession’s landscape ahead.

Take advantage of this grant opportunity and be a part of the audience that discusses defining pathology’s diagnostic methodologies in the digital age. Hear what key industry and laboratory leaders are doing today that impact the profession tomorrow.

The 2009 conference will be held in Rosemont, IL on June 12-14.

Up to a total of four conference travel awards of up to $500 each will be made available to pathology residents to attend the Futurescape conference.

About the Award

Funding for this conference award program is made possible through the generosity of the Dito Family and donors to the William R. Dito, MD, Fund for Informatics. Conference travel awards of up to $500 will be made available to pathology residents. This funding is intended to defray costs of registration, travel, and living expenses. It is expected that the recipient’s own institution will support the resident’s attendance by authorizing permission to attend. If a conference expenses are expected to exceed the travel award amount, a resident can use his/her own travel funds or seek department funds to cover the rest of the expenses.
