Estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PgR) testing provides information that guides clinicians in determining which patients should receive effective and well-tolerated hormonal treatments for breast cancer. The testing has been reported to have a high false-negative rate, which denies many patients this beneficial treatment. This short session will provide an overview of the elements of the guideline released earlier this year, that prevent these false-negative ER and PgR tests. Expert faculty will lead an interactive discussion on how to effectively implement the guideline in your practice and address related issues such as specimen handling, fixation, and processing variables. This session targets pathologists who are doing ER and PgR testing in their practice.
