NEW  AP102  A Practical Guide to Molecular Testing in Neoplastic Conditions of the Skin

8:00–11:30 am
3.0 CME CREDITS

Medical Knowledge Patient Care

The volume of diagnostic considerations in dermatopathology has grown significantly and complicated definitive assessment. More recently, the role of molecular technology in cutaneous neoplasia has expanded based on accumulating discoveries of the biological mechanisms controlling cell growth and differentiation and developments in the clinical management of neoplastic conditions involving skin. This course emphasizes the basic principles of molecular pathology as applied to neoplastic conditions in dermatopathology and their application to practical diagnostic and therapeutic issues. Faculty will provide a foundation in the practice of oncologic molecular dermatopathology to include commonly used techniques and their specimen requirements, assay selection and indications, diagnostic and therapeutic utility, test turnaround times, and quality assurance issues. Select cases will illustrate use in routine practice and serve as useful paradigms.
