NEW  CP110  Evaluating Myeloid Stem Cell Disorders by Flow Cytometry (AML and Myelodysplasia)

8:00–11:30 am
3.0 CME/CE CREDITS

Medical Knowledge

This session focuses on the utility of flow cytometry in the diagnosis of myeloid stem cell disorders, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). The course will cover the immunophenotypic patterns of normal myeloid blasts and precursors during maturation and how such patterns are disordered in AML and MDS. The first segment of the course will review principles of evaluating blast populations in AML, including such topics as genetic correlates with flow cytometry and residual disease testing. The second segment will emphasize approaches to evaluating MDS using flow cytometry, including how to recognize aberrant immunophenotypic patterns in myeloid blast and maturing myeloid populations.
