NEW  ST102  Implementing CLSI Evaluation Protocol Guidelines

10:30–11:30 am
1.0 CME CREDIT

Practice-Based Learning and Improvement System Based Practice

Evaluation protocols exist for all types of clinical laboratory test systems used in the clinical laboratory and manufacturer settings. Laboratories throughout the world use the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) protocols on a daily basis to address the areas of evaluation, which include linearities, precision, trueness, carryover, drift, reference interval, and limit of detection. Software has been created and is available that incorporates the seven protocols and can address the difficult and time-consuming task that laboratorians face when performing these evaluations. The use of software tools ensures automatic calculations and alignment with CLSI document guidelines. Compliance with accreditation requirements for verification and validation of clinical laboratory assays is also made easy through their use.
