ST112  CAP Foundation Keitges Program on Medical Ethics: Genetic Testing in Late Onset Autosomal Dominant Disorders

This session will explore genetic testing in late onset autosomal dominant disorders such as Huntington disease and hereditary cancer. Faculty will review the historical background of genetic testing for these disorders, shift to the current state of testing, and address key ethical implications. Faculty will also examine medical-clinical and ethical issues of genetic testing in children. The course will utilize an audience-response system.

You will learn to:

• Understand the scientific knowledge of disorders discussed (such as Huntington disease and hereditary cancer)
• Identify Mendelian inheritance patterns of genetic disorders
• Recognize and address the ethical issues associated with genetic testing for late onset autosomal dominant disorders and hereditary cancer.
