Practicing pathologists who provide definitive diagnoses on thyroid follicular nodules in their daily practice will benefit from this course. Faculty will cover the gamut of hyperplastic, benign neoplastic and malignant thyroid lesions. Specific cases include hyperplastic adenomatoid nodules, hyperplastic nodules with partial or incomplete encapsulation, benign reactive nodules with a “pseudocapsule,” benign follicular neoplasms, and well-differentiated follicular carcinoma. Learn to distinguish follicular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma from other mimickers and other follicular-patterned neoplasms that may enter into the differential diagnosis. Lastly, faculty will review the role of special stains, including immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology, for the evaluation of these lesions.
