Cytologic evaluation, including fine-needle aspiration (FNA), is a valuable diagnostic tool in the evaluation of lymphoproliferative disorders and is less invasive than tissue biopsy. Cytology distinguishes reactive from neoplastic conditions and in some situations allows accurate classification of lymphoproliferative disorders. Focusing on cytologic/FNA evaluation to distinguish reactive from neoplastic T- and B-cell disorders, faculty will outline situations where subclassifcation of B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders is appropriate. Learn the role of flow cytometry, FISH, and molecular testing, as well as diagnostic pitfalls and situations that require tissue biopsy for accurate diagnosis and classification.
