In this course we review basic histomorphologic principles for the diagnostic approach of soft tissue neoplasms. We present a practical overview of common and uncommon benign and malignant soft tissue tumors, and offer useful guidelines for distinguishing these tumors from their mimickers. Faculty will illustrate and emphasize the most common potential pitfalls encountered in the diagnostic workup of soft tissue neoplasms and provide practical guidelines on the application of basic ancillary techniques for the diagnosis of these tumors. This course may complement the more advanced course on molecular principles in the diagnosis and targeted management of soft tissue neoplasms, AP132 Application of Molecular Methods in the Diagnosis and Targeted Management of Soft Tissue Neoplasms, offered on September 12 at this meeting.
