NEW  PM105  Laboratory Operations During a Disaster: Are You Prepared?

9:30–11:30 am
2.0 CME/CE CREDITS

System Based Practice Interpersonal and Communication Skills Transformation

Clinical laboratories are especially vulnerable to certain threats that arise during a local, community, regional, or national disaster. Increasingly, accrediting organizations, especially the Joint Commission, are promoting effective emergency planning. The laboratory must have representation in the emergency operations plan (EOP) development. This course will familiarize you with the domestic structure and terminology of emergency planning, provide several potential scenarios that challenge laboratory disaster operations, and overview the terms, tools, and steps used in developing an EOP. Faculty will reference the new Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) document GP-36, “Planning for Challenges to Clinical Laboratory Operations During a Disaster.”
