System Based Practice Interpersonal and Communication Skills Transformation

Learn the latest developments in the changing roles of pathologists in this analysis of the direction and operation of new health care delivery systems, including the proposed accountable care organizations. Faculty will describe pathologists’ involvement in new health care accountability measures (eg, meaningful use, comparative effectiveness, patient-centered outcomes research) and recommend ideal utilization of new health care monitoring/compensation models, such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Physician Quality Reporting and Pay for Performance. You will learn about the skills required for financial change; the legal, regulatory, and ethical behaviors for active leaders; and key characteristics or “pearls” of an excellent laboratory director.
