Interpersonal and Communication Skills Practice-Based Learning and Improvement Transformation

Research shows that most physicians do not recognize the additional value pathologists can provide beyond delivering pathology reports and directing the laboratory. As these findings combine with emerging health care delivery models, it becomes imperative that pathologists go beyond their standard services and be recognized as physicians who are integral to health care systems and patient care teams. This session describes specific examples of services the anatomic pathologist can provide that will make them in-demand by patient care teams and health care systems: improved pathology reporting, tumor board leadership, and evidence-based guideline implementation. In this highly interactive session, participants will take away an action plan they can implement in their practices.
