Implementing digital imaging in daily pathology practice presents real-life issues. Gain a basic understanding of what comprises a digital image, what makes one digital image better than another by focusing on standard digital image capture in different settings, and how to select the right camera for the right application. The course addresses image file management and offers a variety of solutions for storing, retrieving, and archiving digital images. Finally, with the increasing interest in whole slide imaging, faculty will discuss a number of the technical and practical issues associated with the use of whole slide imaging in clinical practice. Faculty will field questions from the group and generate a discussion of the different approaches, obstacles, and solutions that participants have encountered at their institutions. Following this session, participants may complete a related online self-assessment module, available through December 31, 2012. More details will be provided in the course.
