Pathologists Pioneering Standards of Excellence Through CAP Accreditation: Commemorating 50 Years of Collaboration, Commitment, and Quality

Come celebrate the final event of the yearlong celebration of CAP accreditation’s 50th anniversary.
Although this marks the closing of the official celebration—a commemoration of the past, present, and future—the work is far from over, and we will celebrate more milestones as we carry on the CAP’s mission: serving patients, pathologists, and the public by fostering and advocating excellence in the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine worldwide.
With laboratory accreditation integrated into the fabric of laboratory medicine, pathologists, the laboratory community, and the CAP are now developing standards for genomic medicine, accrediting biorepositories, and broadening accreditation internationally.
As one CAP accreditation leader wrote about the program, “The entire benefit is for the patient and the physician who treats the patient.” The statement continues to resonate with purpose for us as pathologists and to hold value for the physician community and our patients.
