With recent advances in imaging and interventional techniques, there has been an increase in pancreatic cytologic specimens. Changes in terminology and classification of pancreatic neuroendocrine proliferations have led to new information that pathologists should know about. The presenters will provide an overview of challenges and practical clues in pancreatic cytopathology. Discussions will include endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided pancreatic fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and its pitfalls, pancreatic adenocarcinoma and its distinction from cytologic mimickers, differential diagnosis of solid and cystic pancreatic lesions/tumors, and the use of ancillary studies in diagnosis.
