AP102  At LAST! Standardization of HPV-Related Neoplasia: The CAP-ASCCP Lower Anogenital Squamous Terminology (LAST) Project

Sunday, October 13
9:30–11:30 AM
2.5 CME/SAM CREDITS

CAP SAMs Medical Knowledge Practice-Based Learning and Improvement

The CAP Pathology and Laboratory Quality Center, in collaboration with the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP), has recommended a standardized terminology for HPV-associated squamous neoplasia of the lower anogenital tract based on the current understanding of an underlying unified pathology. Historically, several different nomenclature systems have been used. This session will review the CAP-ASCCP LAST Project recommendations with a focus on squamous intraepithelial lesions, including recommendations for the use of biomarkers as an aid to diagnosis in the identification of these lesions on problematic cases and clear recommendations on when to use and not use biomarkers. Participants will take away a state-of-the art understanding of HPV-associated squamous lesions of the lower anogenital tract to enhance communication with clinical colleagues regarding the diagnosis and clinical management of HPV-associated precancer. Following this session, participants may complete a related online self-assessment module, available at cap.org through December 31, 2013.
