AP125  Pitfalls in the Biopsy Diagnosis of Head and Neck Lesions

Tuesday, October 15
2:00–5:30 PM
3.0 CME CREDITS

Patient Care Medical Knowledge

This course presents a case-based analysis of the diagnostic issues relative to the biopsy assessment of select head and neck lesions. The major categories include 1) well-differentiated squamous epithelial lesions of the upper aerodigestive tract, 2) major and minor salivary gland lesions, 3) benign and malignant sinonasal neoplasms, and 4) cystic neck mass and viral-associated head and neck carcinomas. Faculty will emphasize the light microscopic features required for interpretation, as well as the limitations associated with biopsy sampling relative to select head and neck lesions. When applicable, discussion will cover adjunct diagnostic modalities (eg, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, and molecular biology).
