NEW  AP126  Liver Pathology in the Changing World of Endocrine, Metabolic, Infective, and Immunologic Disorders

Tuesday, October 15
2:00–5:30 PM

Practice-Based Learning and Improvement Interpersonal and Communication Skills

Diabetes and metabolic syndrome pose new challenges while increasingly successful antiviral therapy promises to lessen disease burden from viral hepatitis. Pathologists are asked for important information, some related to new drugs, others to primary immunologic aberrations or secondary to metabolic, endocrine, drug reaction, or infective causes. Biopsy data should fit into established treatment guidelines, on which the requesting hepatologist’s actions are based. Understanding this enables the pathologist to concisely provide necessary information, while the converse causes unsatisfactory performance and second-opinion requests. This course bridges the gap between clinical and histopathologic aspects of liver pathology; participants will learn about a pattern-based approach that integrates clinical, pathogenetic, and morphologic parameters in the final interpretation.

You will learn to:

Oyedele A. Adeyi, MBBS, FCAP
Sandra E. Fischer, MD
