CP108  Tandem Mass Spectrometry: Current and Future Applications for the Clinical Laboratory

Tuesday, October 15
2:00–4:00 PM

Medical Knowledge Practice-Based Learning and Improvement

Mass spectrometry (MS) and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) technologies continue to change the face of laboratory medicine and our ability to care for patients. This course will introduce the basic concepts of MS and MS/MS technologies and highlight their use in therapeutic drug management, endocrinology, and newborn screening. Faculty will present implementation challenges and regulatory considerations, review clinical case studies, and then conclude with a discussion of new applications of MS/MS technology (eg, peptides and proteins). Attendees will gain a better understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of MS/MS in a clinical setting.
