CAP SAMs Medical Knowledge Practice-Based Learning and Improvement

Recent technologic advances are making on-site molecular testing for infectious diseases an increasingly achievable goal. In this session, practicing pathologists and trainees will gain the skills to evaluate molecular tests for incorporation into the community-based clinical laboratory. Faculty will focus on understanding the methodology and utility of molecular diagnostics for infectious diseases, including respiratory viruses, bacteremia, Staphylococcus aureus, and Clostridium difficile. Following this session, participants may complete a related online self-assessment module, available at cap.org through December 31, 2013.
