Spotlight Event—The Buckinghams
Sunday
September 30
5:30 – 7:00 pm
With a recording entitled “Kind of a Drag,” five teenagers from Chicago were propelled into the national spotlight with an instant mega–hit. The single swiftly climbed to the No. 1
spot on the music charts in 1967, and more songs followed with “Hey, Baby, They’re Playing Our Song,” “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy,” and “Don’t You Care.”
The Buckinghams soon became a pop phenomenon, earning them the title “The Most Listened to Band in America” in 1967. Four decades later, The Buckinghams haven’t missed a beat.
They still entertain thousands of fans with live performances and TV appearances on shows that include “Entertainment Tonight” and “Good Morning America.”
The Buckinghams’ classic rock songs—familiar to everyone—still draw a loyal
following throughout the country, making them one of today’s most popular acts.
