Chicago City Highlights Tour

Chicago is a city of surprises, from the glimmering lakefront to its outdoor museum of architecture. Sample the beauty of this great city on a three–hour tour, as your guide points out the towering buildings of downtown and the upscale residences. Pause for a photo opportunity at the Museum Campus—one of the most beautiful vistas of the lakefront. Cruise down the Magnificent Mile, home to renowned designers and shops. See the Merchandise Mart and other architectural marvels as well as Harpo Studios, where Oprah Winfrey tapes her show. Marvel at the wealth of public art, ranging from Picasso to Chagall. Your guide will narrate the history of LaSalle Street, the economic engine of the Midwest. Upon your return, you can truly say you’ve seen the sights of the city.

‘Wicked’ Matinee

Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One, born with emerald–green skin, is smart, fiery, and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious, and very popular. How these two unlikely friends end up as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch makes for a most spellbinding new musical. “Wicked,” the untold story of the witches of Oz, features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and is based on Gregory Maguire’s best–selling novel. With musical staging by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento and directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, this theater performance touches everyone.

Gold Coast Homes Tour

Monday, October 1

Be sure to grab a camera and your walking shoes to experience one of Chicago’s richest residential neighborhoods. Your guide will highlight the Gold Coast, one of the country’s most desirable residential neighborhoods, located just north of downtown. The 19th–century row houses intermingle with high–rises to create a one–of–a–kind neighborhood along Chicago’s lakefront. The real estate options encompass all price points, and your guide will give you insight into the affordable and the astronomical. Hugh Heffner’s original Midwest Playboy mansion sits unobtrusively in this posh section of town. Only a few blocks away, you will find the Catholic cardinal’s mansion. Learn about Chicago’s history, today’s residents, and all types of architecture and real estate on a one–of–a–kind walking tour.

Chicago Architectural Cruise—Rolling on the River

Monday, October 1
1:30 – 4:30 pm

Discover the beauty and rich architectural history of world–famous buildings with a cruise down the Chicago River. You will see it all from the gothic greatness of the Tribune Tower to the modern Sears Tower, an awe–inspiring structure that requires its own zip code. During your 90–minute cruise, relax and listen as your expert narrator guides you through the development of Chicago’s magnificent skyline. Admire the innovative IBM building, the last major Chicago design by the great Mies van der Rohe, and dozens of other incredible structures. Your lesson in architecture is not over when you step off the boat. Your guide will highlight attractions and shops on Michigan Avenue.
