CAP Campaign for Transformation Campaign for Transformation Launched at CAP ’08
At CAP ’08, the College of American Pathologists launched the Transformation of the Specialty. This campaign is an unprecedented, historic, multi-year, sustained mobilization campaign that will span multiple presidencies.

Former president of Genzyme Genetics, vice chair of the Personalized Medicine Coalition, and a member of the Secretary of Health and Human Services’ Advisory Council on Genetics, Mara Aspinall shared her thoughts and data on the rise of personalized medicine. She discussed what personalized medicine means for the future of pathology, pathologists, and patient care.

America’s Favorite Political Duo—Mary Matalin And James Carville—Answer Pathologists’ Questions
She’s a staunch Republican. He’s an outspoken Democrat. At CAP ’08, Mary Matalin and James Carville shared the stage to provide a look at the 2008 presidential race and even answered audience questions on Saturday evening’s Spotlight Event, September 27.

The College of American Pathologists’ Pathologist of the Year Award was presented to a CAP leader for outstanding contributions to the field of pathology and to the programs and activities of the College. The CAP proudly recognizes this year’s recipient—Thomas M. Sodeman, MD, FCAP.

CAP Foundation News—Auctions, Awards, and Music
The CAP Foundation would like to thank everyone who participated in its first live auction which raised over $19,000. The annual e-Auction was another success raising over $23,000 in contributions. Proceeds from both auctions will benefit the humanitarian program.
