About CAP Foundation
The College of American Pathologists Foundation (CAP Foundation) was chartered in 1963 to support and advance the specialty of pathology. It is the leading philanthropic organization for pathologists and residents-in-training, and has distributed millions of dollars to support education, research, and humanitarian programs. Through the support it provides, the CAP Foundation’s mission is to:
- Ensure the preparedness of pathologists in training
- Support activities that improve the practice, science, and delivery of pathology services
- Support the research of innovative ideas of pathologists
- Enable humanitarian efforts by pathologists
The CAP Foundation research, training grants, and awards have benefited promising pathology researchers and leaders. In 2006, the CAP Foundation completed a major reorganization to respond to the rapidly changing healthcare environment. With renewed vigor and refocused priorities our objectives are clear:
- Increase the awareness and utilization of new technologies that advance pathology
- Support pathology-related humanitarian projects that benefit patients
