The CAP Web site uses Verity to search documents published on the site.

Quick tips on searching

• Type in words or phrases to search. You will get better results when you use more specific terms. The site search will find documents containing as many of these words and phrases as possible and rank them according to relevance.
• Use quotation marks to set off a specific phrase for searching. Use commas to separate terms. For example, “laboratory accreditation” will find documents where laboratory and accreditation are found together.
• Search is not case sensitive. Use of upper case or lower case or mixed case letters will return same search results.

Refining your search

To better refine your search, use the following techniques:

• Identify a particular phrase. For example, “cancer protocols” or “proficiency testing.”
• Add words or phrases that better differentiate the items for which you are searching.
• Use capital letters when appropriate.
• Use a + or a - to include or reject particular terms. For example: checklists, +inspection -cancer will return results for inspection checklists, but not for cancer protocol checklists.

Requiring or excluding terms

The site search uses a simple query syntax that corresponds to Boolean operators:

The Verity search returns results sorted with the “best” matches listed at the top. Verity determines which results are better than others by weighing your query terms—automatically—based on how frequently they occur in text. More unique terms are weighted higher than more common ones.
