CAP CAP Campaign for the Transformation of the Specialty
The CAP Institute for the Advancement of the Pathology Specialty

Known simply as "The Institute," this effort will deliver multifaceted, leading edge programs that provide pathologists both what they want today and what they will need to transform the specialty. The Institute is not a separate building or subsection of the CAP, but rather a strategic grouping of targeted education and services to empower pathologists with the knowledge, experience, tools, and the advocacy needed to transform.

CAP SAMs (Self Assessment Modules)
  • An expanding series of programs designed to be part of the larger Certificate Program or as independent education offerings to meet MOC requirements.
  • CAP SAMs developed by the College are uniquely differentiated in providing robust practical education with a direct impact on outcomes.
  • Two CAP SAMs were introduced at CAP '08.
  • One online CAP SAM is being introduced September 23.
Practicums
  • Are being developed to provide CAP members with both a high-level introduction and hands-on experiential learning on existing and emerging technologies.
CAP's New Certificate Programs - Launching June 2009
  • An exciting new program to allow individual pathologists to demonstrate a special commitment to an area of pathology.
  • Designed by pathologists to help pathologists signal to one another, to referring physicians, and to patients that they possess special expertise and experience.
  • You will be able to earn time-limited certificates in both broad (i.e.. breast pathology, urinary and pharmacogenomics) and narrow skill areas (ie. ultra-sound guided FNA and HER2 testing).
